Psychotherapy and Counseling

What are the pros and cons of using insurance?

Depending on your insurance, partial or full-fee coverage may be provided for psychotherapy services. A mental health diagnosis, such as "Adjustment Disorder" or "Generalized Anxiety Disorder," must be provided to an insurance company for it to provide payment.

Some clients choose not use insurance, and instead pay the fees themselves. This gives you greater privacy and control over your treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does therapy take?

This is a difficult question to answer because each person is unique, with different goals and objectives, as well as different life circumstances that impact outcomes. Some clients achieve their initial objectives and decide that they want to continue working on further growth and development.

What is a marriage and family therapist?

Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) are relationship specialists. We treat individuals and people involved in interpersonal relationships. We assess, diagnose and treat individuals, couples, families and groups to achieve more satisfying and productive marriage, family and social adjustment.

Marriage and family therapists are psychotherapists and healing arts practitioners licensed by the State of California. Requirements for licensure include a related doctoral or two-year master's degree, passage of a comprehensive written and oral examination and at least 3,000 hours of supervised experience.
